Ukrainian defense manufacturers, once they have fulfilled commitments to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, will be able to export their products in a controlled manner to countries with which security agreements have been signed, Ihor Fedirko, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Council of Defence Industry, has declared.
“The export mechanism has also been unblocked, and it can be implemented, but with many caveats. First and foremost, contracts must be fulfilled for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and only then can surplus capacity be sold to countries with which security agreements have been signed. Ukraine has currently concluded 28 such agreements, including with the G7 countries and the European Union,” Fedirko noted.
According to him, the main focus of cooperation is the Baltic and Northern European countries, Germany, and the United Kingdom. He added that many Ukrainian producers have ties with the Middle East, but no political decision has yet been made regarding work in that region.
Fedirko also emphasized the potential of joint ventures as an effective tool for strengthening cooperation. Such ventures allow production to be doubled, open access to new markets, attract investment, develop domestic technologies, and integrate into the broader European defense and defense-industrial system. He noted that this was precisely the aim of the Build with Ukraine program, initiated by the President of Ukraine in June 2025. (Ukrinform)
