The security situation in the context of full-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine requires the implementation of new approaches and solutions, including in the construction sector.
To this end, a meeting was held between representatives of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine with a delegation from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine and representatives of Japanese business, dedicated to discussing modern technologies for remote construction. Deputy Minister Maryna Denysiuk coordinates cooperation with Japan on behalf of the ministry.
Artem Husak, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and European Integration of the ministry, welcomed the Japanese delegation led by Mr. Shuto Sugai, Director for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan. He separately emphasized the exceptional importance and value of the Government of Japan’s support for the reconstruction process in Ukraine.
Japanese construction technologies using remote control provide that the operator can connect to heavy construction equipment via the network and control its actions from anywhere in the world.
“Such innovations can help us reintegrate veterans into civilian life, provide decent work for people with disabilities, provide flexible employment opportunities for women on maternity leave, and also ensure that graduates of vocational schools will be able to work on advanced modern equipment. This is the path to an inclusive and technological future for Ukraine,” Artem Husak emphasized.
In addition, the Ukrainian side expressed interest in the state enterprise “Training Center for Training, Retraining and Advanced Training” being equipped with an electronic simulator within the framework of Ukrainian-Japanese cooperation, on which student operators of heavy construction equipment would be able to undergo training.
The meeting is a continuation of the agreements within the framework of the Japan-Ukraine Platform on Infrastructure Technologies for Recovery and Reconstruction (JUPITeR) and the beginning of preparatory measures for a large-scale presentation of Japanese remote construction technologies in Ukraine.
Already in autumn, the Japanese side intends to deliver simulation equipment to Ukraine and equip the first temporary control center to demonstrate modern remote construction technologies in practice.
This cooperation emphasizes Ukraine’s desire for innovation and inclusive development and also demonstrates the strength of partnerships with Japan in the reconstruction of Ukraine and common goals. (Territorial Development Ministry)
