On July 24, a ceremony to hand over heat pump equipment for the Vinochok kindergarten was held in Boryspil (Kyiv region). The equipment was handed over as part of the joint Emergency Recovery and Reconstruction Project with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Maryna Denysiuk, Senior Vice President of JICA Kenichi Kawamura, representatives of the Boryspil city government and the educational community.
In her speech, Maryna Denysiuk emphasized the importance of cooperation with Japanese partners to improve the energy efficiency of social infrastructure in communities.
“Projects using heat pumps are of utmost importance for local communities. These are modern technological solutions that allow us to reduce energy costs, ensure environmental friendliness and comfort for our children. We are grateful to the Government of Japan and JICA for the support that brings real changes today,” the Deputy Minister noted.
The kindergarten received modern energy-efficient equipment: eight heat pumps, two air purifiers and two air conditioners.
This is not the first JICA initiative in the field of modernization of educational infrastructure. Last year, five Ukrainian educational institutions were equipped with heat pumps, and this year, three more. Currently, a survey of potential sites for expanding the program is underway.
The support that Ukraine receives from the Government of Japan through JICA has been implemented since 2023 and covers critical sectors: energy, transport, healthcare, education, water supply, humanitarian demining, the agricultural sector and municipal infrastructure. The total amount of grant assistance has already exceeded $700 million. (Territorial Development Ministry)
