The Government continues its support programmes for agricultural producers and introduces new mechanisms for the development of the agricultural sector. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a meeting of the Cabinet on April 29.
He emphasised that farmers were actively working on the spring sowing campaign despite the challenges caused by the Russian war. So far, 2 million hectares of spring grains and pulses have been sown, which is 35% of the planned area.
According to Denys Shmyhal, this year more than 2,600 agricultural enterprises have received soft loans under the 5-7-9 programme totalling UAH 15.4 billion, while the total amount of loans raised by farmers under various programmes has reached UAH 34.6 billion. In April, the banks also started paying a special subsidy to farmers worth UAH 386 million for the development of livestock. In addition, agricultural enterprises purchased more than 6,000 units of machinery under the programme to compensate 25% of the cost of Ukrainian agricultural machinery. (Government portal)
