On August 12, the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, in cooperation with the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety, published the data of the Licence Register of Carriers on the Unified State Open Data Portal data.gov.ua. This is the first open API data set managed by Ukrtransbezpeka.
The register contains a list of companies with valid licences for the carriage of passengers, dangerous goods or waste, as well as international transport of passengers and goods by road.
The data is available for the period since 2010. During this time, 57,067 licences were issued. The largest number of licences were issued for freight transport by road (31,646), passenger transport by bus (over 12,276) and taxi (9,541).
Licences for the domestic transportation of hazardous goods and waste are held by 6,496 companies and for international transportation – by 3,864 companies.
The dataset contains a range of information, including the name and EDRPOU code of the carrier, the year when the permit was issued, the date and time of issuance of the permit, and its details.
In particular, access to this data allows for a deeper analysis of the situation with issued and cancelled licences, and reduces the share of unscrupulous carriers in the market.
For businesses, this data will allow them to plan their activities more efficiently and identify new market opportunities. The data can also be used to find licensed carriers in a particular region, check who has valid licences, monitor new licences and cancellations of old ones and analyse the transport market and its trends.
Online platforms can use this data to create services for finding contractors, checking licences and the legality of transport, combining it with other registers, such as the register of international routes.
This step contributes to increasing transparency and accessibility of information to the public by providing free access to important data related to licensing activities in Ukraine. The published data do not contain any information that may threaten the national security of Ukraine. (Government portal)
