The World Bank will disburse an average of $200 million a month for salaries to Ukrainian civil servants and teachers. A total of $1.5 billion will be allocated for this purpose, Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine Roman Yermolychev has said.
He assured that the Ministry of Finance was constantly looking for alternative sources to finance the needs of the state, including the support for education.
“Therefore, together with other government agencies, we are already preparing a joint project with the World Bank “Support for public expenditures to ensure sustainable governance in Ukraine”. The announced aid will total $1.5 billion,” the official said.
He clarified that the project provided for the reimbursement of state budget expenditures made to pay salaries to government agencies’ staff and teachers of general secondary education. On average, the World Bank will reimburse $200 million a month.
“The support of international partners is, of course, extremely important now. We expect that the donor funds will strengthen the capacity of the Ukrainian budget and, consequently, will help bring our victory closer,” Yermolychev stressed. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
