JSC Ukrzaliznytsia in the near future intends to launch trains to the territory bordering the temporarily occupied Crimea. Ukraine cannot launch trains to the peninsula yet, JSC Ukrzaliznytsia Board Chairman Volodymyr Zhmak has declared.
“We are working on the resumption of railway connection with the territories adjacent to Crimea. Unfortunately, we cannot enter Crimea itself,” Zhmak said.
He also recalled that in 2020, the company resumed railway service with the town of Avdiivka, located on the front line near the occupied Donetsk.
In December 2014, Ukraine suspended all rail services with Crimea after the peninsula’s occupation. (Ukrinform/Business World Magazine)
