In April Ukraine supplied 24.9 thousand tons of flour to foreign markets, which became the minimum monthly value in 2017-2018 MY, as well as down by 9% YoY (27.4 thousand tons).
Decreasing of the interest in Ukrainian flour from its key consumer – North Korea, which did not received the supplies in March and April, became one of the major reasons for reduction of the total export volumes. At the same time, China also reduced the imports volumes, because the country usually ships the product towards North Korea. Thus, in April Ukraine supplied the minimum monthly volumes per season to China, which totaled 6.8 thousand tons only.
In May the export rates of flour also remained quite low. According to the statistics figures, in the first half of the month Ukraine supplied nearly 14.1 thousand tons of the product to foreign markets. According estimations, in terms of the current export rates in July-May the overall flour shipments will reach nearly 410 thousand tons. Also, in June Ukraine will not face any significant increase in supply, which somewhat threatens the current export potential of the Ukrainian market of flour in 2017-2018 MY – 450 thousand tons.
