Belarus’ gross domestic product (GDP) dropped by 2.7% YoY in January-July 2016 to 52.6 billion Belarusian rubles ($27.1 billion at the central bank’s exchange rate), an official with Belarus’ National Statistics Committee said.
Industrial output in January-July fell by 2% YoY to Br45.1 billion ($23.2 billion).
Farm output grew by 4.2% to Br6.2 billion ($3.2 billion).
As previously reported, Belarus’ GDP dropped by 3.9% in 2015 to Br87 billion ($44.8 billion), while the government had expected the GDP to expand by at least 0.2% in 2015. To compare, in 2014 Belarus’ GDP grew by 1.7% to Br77.8 billion ($40.1 billion), while the government had expected the GDP to expand 3.3%. (Prime-TASS/Business World Magazine)
