Enterprises affiliated with the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry increased dairy export to China 5.6-fold YoY in January-July, Aleksei Bogdanov, Head of the Central Office for Foreign Economic Activities of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, declared.
“In January-July Belarus’ farm export to China totaled $23.3 million, up 4.2-fold. Dairy was the biggest contributor. In January-July we set a record having supplied 57,300 tons worth $20 million. Dairy export to China rose almost 5.6-fold over last year’s level in money terms and 6.9-fold in physical terms,” Aleksei Bogdanov said.
The first container train carrying Belarusian dairy products set off to China on September 4.
“Plans are in place to add more cars to trains. The goal is to ramp up dairy export to China up to 100 containers per month and to extend the product range. Today we sent skimmed milk to China. We also supply whey, dried whole milk. We actively promote finished products such as cheese and butter. We also seek to branch out into the Chinese yogurt market,” Aleksei Bogdanov noted.
Almost all Belarusian dairy plants have been certified to export their products to China. (BelTA/Business World Magazine)
